During the construction of the Greek Telecommunications Organization (OTE) building, behind the Ermioni Rural Dispensary, a large marble sarcophagus of the Roman period (3rd or 4th century AD) was found. The sarcophagus cover is a sculpture that must have been imported from Asia Minor, but it has not found a buyer, since the faces of the deceased couple (the husband holding a parchment and the wife a mirror) have been left without features that were carved afterwards. This tomb has since then been left outside the sub port authority of the Municipality of Ermioni. The Municipal Community, in collaboration with the Municipality of Ermionida, will soon proceed to its promotion by placing it in a prominent position in a municipal area, which will be conceded for this purpose.
