In Portocheli, the roots of the folklore customs of Carnival date back almost to the beginning of the 20th century. Since 1990, however, they have been organized into an institution that has become a tradition. The organization started by the Portocheli Kindergarten and the Parents’ Association of the Portocheli Primary School and later the Portocheli “Faros ” Association. Over time and under the auspices of the Community of Portocheli and the Municipality of Ermionida it was embraced by all residents, the associations and especially the school communities.
